# Nexla and Snowflake®: Connecting 1,000+ Enterprise Systems to Cortex Agents and the AI Data Cloud _By Jayashree Rajan | October 14, 2026_ Source: https://nexla.com/blog/nexla-snowflake-cortex-agents/ > Nexla extends the Snowflake AI Data Cloud to more of the enterprise, with connectivity to 1,000+ systems, delivered as data pipelines, zero-copy access, and task-specific MCP servers for Snowflake agents. **Nexla is a Snowflake Select Tier Technology Partner, Snowflake Ready certified, and available in Snowflake Partner Connect.** This post outlines how Nexla extends the Snowflake AI Data Cloud to more of the enterprise, with connectivity to 1,000+ systems, delivered as data pipelines, zero-copy access, and task-specific MCP servers for Snowflake agents. ## AI agents are only as good as the context they can reach Snowflake has made context central to its agentic strategy. In Snowflake’s internal [benchmark](https://www.snowflake.com/en/blog/enterprise-ai-agents-grounded-context/) on product analytics questions, Cortex Sense (private preview) improved agent accuracy from 24.1% to 86.3%. Context depends on coverage. The data an agent needs is spread across SaaS apps, databases, APIs, files, streams, documents, call recordings and legacy systems. Snowflake-native options such as Openflow and Snowpipe Streaming cover many important sources. The long tail is where teams still write custom connectors, API wrappers and one-off MCP servers for each new AI project. Nexla is built for that long tail, so Snowflake remains the governed data, semantic and agent platform while Nexla handles last-mile connectivity. ## Three ways to connect enterprise systems to Snowflake The same Nexla connector can serve three access patterns, chosen per workload: - **Move data into Snowflake.** CDC, ETL/ELT, streaming, API, file and document pipelines land data in Snowflake. Nexsets carry schema, metadata and transformations with the data, and schema changes are handled in the pipeline. - **Access data in place.** Nexla zero-copy connectors provide in-place access when data should stay at the source. They complement Snowflake Zero-Copy Integrations, such as SAP and Workday, by extending that pattern to additional systems. - **Give agents live context and actions.** Nexla task-specific MCP servers connect to Cortex Agents and [Snowflake CoWork](https://www.snowflake.com/en/blog/snowflake-cowork-personal-work-agent/) (formerly Snowflake Intelligence) through MCP connectors. Each server exposes only the tools a business task needs, rather than an application’s full API surface. In Nexla’s published [benchmarks](https://nexla.com/mcp-studio/performance/), a task-specific server completed each task in 1 tool call versus an average of 4.7 for the Google Ads MCP server, and used 32.7x fewer tokens than HubSpot’s native MCP server on the same CRM analysis. Because all three patterns share one connector estate, teams do not rebuild the same integration separately for analytics, AI and operational workflows. That reduces the integrations a team builds and maintains per source system from three to one. ## Governed by design, deployed on your terms Agents that take action need the same controls as the people they act for. Nexla MCP servers support read and write workflows with per-user (on-behalf-of) credentials, policy controls, approvals, audit logs and observability. Source credentials are managed by Nexla and are not passed to the agent. Nexla runs as SaaS, with an optional data plane in the customer’s VPC. Data pipelines can use private connectivity and Snowflake-native loading patterns. Where an existing Snowflake native or zero-copy integration fully covers a workload, customers should use it. Nexla is designed for the sources, transformations and agent actions outside that coverage. **What this means for Snowflake customers** - **CoWork and Cortex Agent** deployments can draw on documents, calls, tickets and long-tail systems that were not reaching Snowflake. - **Data teams with a connector backlog** can add sources through Nexla instead of building and maintaining each one. Instacart, for example, reduced data engineering and maintenance work by 5x and accelerated new retailer onboarding by up to two months. - **Teams moving from read-only agents to agents that act** get a governed path to write back to CRM, ERP, support and internal systems. With Nexla, the same connectors that land data in Snowflake can give Cortex Agents and Snowflake CoWork governed, live access to the systems where work happens, without rebuilding integrations for every new AI project.” – **Saket Saurabh**, Co-founder and CEO, Nexla ## Get started To learn more, visit [nexla.com/partners/snowflake](https://nexla.com/partners/snowflake/), launch Nexla from Snowflake Partner Connect, or [Request a Demo](https://nexla.com/demo/). ## About Nexla Nexla is the data connectivity layer for enterprise AI.
