What is Data Mapping? 

Data mapping is the process of creating data element mapping between two distinct models. Data mapping is used as the first step in the process of data integration and data transformation. 

Data mapping helps in the consolidation of multiple databases into a single database by identifying the elements matching and going through a process of consolidation or elimination.
