Best Data Integration Platforms for Modern Analytics Stacks (2026 Comparison)
Batch ELT is necessary but no longer enough. Compare data integration platforms on streaming, documents, governance, and AI readiness.
A quick disclosure before the list: I work at Nexla, and Nexla is ranked first. Read the ranking with that in mind. Everything else in this post links to a public page you can check yourself, including the facts that do not flatter us.
Most “best ETL tools” lists put a connector service, a SQL modeling framework, and a 20-year-old enterprise suite in the same bucket and score them on the same five checkboxes. That is how teams end up buying a tool that is great at the job they had two years ago. This list sorts tools by what they were built to do.
An ETL tool in 2026 is any product that moves data between systems and shapes it on the way, whether the transform happens before the load (ETL), after it (ELT), or back out to operational apps (reverse ETL).
The line between these patterns has mostly worn away. Here is how I separate them:
Many platforms now do all three. Nexla, for example, supports ETL, ELT, and reverse ETL and lets you “combine patterns in a single pipeline when needed” (Nexla). That is why “ETL tool” increasingly means “data integration platform.”
The other shift is who consumes the data. For a decade the answer was an analyst looking at a dashboard. Now it is often an AI agent that reads data, reasons over it, and writes an action back. That changes what you should rank on.
The criteria I used:
Ranked for teams that need breadth, mixed data types, and governance in one place, the order is Nexla, Fivetran, Airbyte, Matillion, Qlik Talend Cloud, Informatica, Stitch, dbt, Hevo Data, and AWS Glue.
Built for: teams that have outgrown point-to-point connectors and need one layer that serves warehouses, apps, and AI agents.Nexla has 1,000+ bidirectional connectors across databases, SaaS apps, file systems, streaming platforms, LLMs, and vector stores, and each one supports both reading and writing (Nexla, July 2026). When a system is missing, Nexla’s AI connector builder delivers a new one in a median of under one week (same source). The architectural difference is the Nexset. On first connection, Nexla generates a governed data product that carries the connector, schema, transforms, and governance metadata together (Nexla). Schema changes are detected on every run (Nexla docs). Unstructured data is handled in the same platform: PDFs, Word and Excel files, scanned documents with OCR, email, images, and audio or video transcripts (Nexla).
Built for: analytics teams that want low-maintenance replication into a warehouse or lake.Fivetran lists 900+ sources and destinations (Fivetran) and handles schema changes with automated schema migration (Fivetran). The big news is structural. Fivetran and dbt Labs completed their merger on June 1, 2026, operating as “Fivetran + dbt Labs” (Fivetran). We wrote about how the market reacted here.
Built for: engineering teams that want control over where pipelines run and are willing to own more of the operations.Airbyte advertises 700+ connectors and lets you deploy “in your warehouse, VPC, or on-premises” (Airbyte). Its licensing is described on its licenses page, and the hosted Cloud and Enterprise products require a commercial license. For a longer look at where Airbyte fits, see Is Airbyte an ETL Tool?.
Built for: teams standardized on Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift that want a visual builder.Matillion lists 150+ connectors with orchestration and governance across those four platforms (Matillion). Its Maia agents “plan, build, test, deploy, and fix your data pipelines” with human review of each plan (same source). Pricing uses consumption-based credits, charged on task hours (Matillion pricing).
Built for: organizations that want integration and data quality rules in one suite.Talend is now part of Qlik, which closed the acquisition in May 2023 (BigDATAwire). Qlik Talend Cloud cites 500+ connectors, agentless CDC from databases, SAP, and mainframe, and pricing “based on data volume” (Qlik).
Built for: large enterprises with complex governance, master data, and compliance needs.Salesforce completed its acquisition of Informatica on November 18, 2025 (Business Wire via FinancialContent). Its cloud platform, IDMC, advertises 1,000+ app connections (Informatica).
Built for: small teams that need basic replication from common sources.Stitch connects to 130+ sources and is “now part of Qlik.” Its site says Qlik is “building the best of our technology into Qlik Talend Cloud,” and new users are pointed to a Qlik Talend Cloud trial (Stitch).
Built for: analytics engineers who model data in SQL inside the warehouse.dbt does not extract or load (dbt Labs). It belongs on this list because almost every ELT stack uses it. After the merger, dbt Labs is open sourcing the dbt Fusion engine as dbt Core v2.0 under Apache 2.0, currently in alpha (Fivetran).
Built for: teams without dedicated data engineers that need near real-time replication.Hevo offers 170+ connectors, no-code setup, and CDC-based database replication (Hevo). Pricing is per event, where each record inserted, updated, or deleted counts as one. The free plan covers up to 1M events a month with limited connectors and hourly syncs (Hevo pricing).
Built for: teams whose data already lives in S3 and the AWS ecosystem.Glue is serverless, connects to 70+ data sources, and includes a visual job editor that generates code (AWS). Jobs are billed per DPU-hour, by the second, at $0.44 per DPU-hour in AWS’s example (AWS pricing).
Connector counts range from 70+ (AWS Glue) to 1,000+ (Nexla and Informatica), and pricing models split into rows, events, credits, compute hours, and data volume.
| Tool | Architecture | Connectors (vendor-stated) | Where transforms run | Batch + streaming / CDC | Unstructured data | Pricing model |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metadata-driven data products (Nexsets) | 1,000+, bidirectional | In pipeline, in destination, or both | Yes | Yes: PDFs, OCR, email, images, audio/video | Contact sales; Express has a free plan | |
| Managed ELT | 900+ sources and destinations | Destination (SQL, dbt) | Scheduled syncs, incl. CDC | Not a stated focus | Monthly active rows | |
| Open connector catalog | 700+ | Destination | Scheduled syncs, incl. CDC | Not a stated focus | Self-host or commercial cloud | |
| Warehouse-native ELT | 150+ | Destination (pushdown) | CDC on Scale tier | Not a stated focus | Credits (task hours) | |
| Enterprise suite | 500+ | Pipeline | Yes (agentless CDC) | Not a stated focus | Data volume | |
| Enterprise suite | 1,000+ apps | Pipeline | Not covered here | Not covered here | Contact sales | |
| Simple ELT | 130+ | Destination | Not stated | Not stated | Moving to Qlik Talend Cloud | |
| Transform layer only | n/a | Destination (SQL) | n/a | No | Open-source Core; commercial cloud | |
| No-code ELT | 170+ | Destination | Near real-time CDC | Not a stated focus | Events | |
| Serverless Spark jobs | 70+ sources | Glue job | Yes (streaming jobs) | Via custom code | DPU-hours |
Sources for each cell are linked in the tool sections above and in the Sources list below. “Not a stated focus” means the vendor’s main product page does not describe unstructured document handling, not that it is impossible.
ETL Tools for Specific Use Cases
The right tool depends on the job: Hevo or Nexla Express for no-code teams, Nexla for unstructured and AI pipelines, Informatica or Qlik Talend Cloud for heavy governance programs, Fivetran or Hevo for fast startup value, and Airbyte for self-hosted control.
No-code ETL means a person can build, run, and change a pipeline without writing SQL, Python, or config files; low-code means a visual builder that still expects code for the hard parts.
The term gets stretched. A drag-and-drop canvas where every non-trivial step opens a SQL editor is low-code. That is not a criticism. Low-code is often the right choice for engineers. It just should not be sold to a finance or ops team as something they can run alone.
How the tools compare on this:
No-code on Snowflake. Snowflake’s own option is Openflow, a managed service built on Apache NiFi (Snowflake docs). Nexla supports no-code and low-code data flows into Snowflake, is Snowflake Ready certified, and is available in Snowflake Partner Connect (Nexla).
No-code on Databricks. Databricks offers managed connectors in Lakeflow Connect, governed by Unity Catalog and run on serverless compute (Databricks docs). Nexla builds Spark ETL pipelines to Databricks through a no-code or low-code UI and supports Databricks as both source and destination (Nexla).
Where no-code stops. Complex joins across many sources, custom business rules, and heavy aggregation usually still need code. The test is whether the tool lets you drop into code for one step without abandoning the no-code pipeline around it.
Teams usually start a migration because of a forced event, such as end of support, an ownership change, or a platform shift, and the replacement should match connector coverage, carry over governance, and reduce manual rebuild work.
Informatica. On-prem PowerCenter 10.4 moved to paid extended support after March 31, 2024, and Informatica’s own guidance points customers toward cloud modernization or an upgrade to 10.5 (Informatica). The Salesforce acquisition (Business Wire via FinancialContent) is another reason some teams are revisiting roadmaps.
Talend. Talend Open Studio was retired in January 2024 (Qlik). Teams that built on it need either Qlik Talend Cloud or a different platform.
Matillion. Matillion is designed around four cloud warehouses (Matillion). That is a strength if you plan to stay on one of them. It is a constraint if you need to land data in operational apps, vector stores, or across clouds.
What to evaluate in a replacement:
Before you buy, test schema drift, CDC, unstructured data handling, true cost, and security controls with your own data, not the vendor’s demo.

Nexla, Fivetran, Airbyte, Matillion, Qlik Talend Cloud, Informatica, Stitch, dbt, Hevo Data, and AWS Glue. They differ by architecture: managed ELT (Fivetran, Hevo, Stitch), open connector catalogs (Airbyte), warehouse-native ELT (Matillion), enterprise suites (Informatica, Qlik Talend), a transform layer (dbt), serverless jobs (Glue), and metadata-driven data products (Nexla).
ETL tools transform data before loading it into the destination. ELT tools load raw data first and transform it inside the warehouse, usually with SQL. Many platforms, including Nexla, support both in the same pipeline.
Nexla (including Express, which builds pipelines from plain-English prompts) and Hevo Data are the strongest true no-code options on this list. Matillion is better described as low-code because it expects SQL or Python for complex steps.
Yes. Snowflake offers Openflow, a managed service built on Apache NiFi. Nexla also provides no-code data flows into Snowflake and is available through Snowflake Partner Connect.
Yes. Databricks offers managed connectors in Lakeflow Connect. Nexla builds Spark ETL pipelines to Databricks through a no-code or low-code UI and treats Databricks as both a source and a destination.
AWS Glue Studio provides a visual job editor that generates code, which makes it low-code. For SaaS-heavy pipelines on AWS, Nexla Express is available in AWS Marketplace and builds pipelines without code.
Nexla, Qlik Talend Cloud, and Fivetran are common alternatives, depending on whether you need broad bidirectional connectivity, an enterprise suite with data quality, or managed ELT into a warehouse. PowerCenter 10.4 moved to paid extended support after March 31, 2024.
Nexla, Airbyte, and Fivetran are common alternatives. Talend Open Studio was retired in January 2024, so open-source Talend users must move to Qlik Talend Cloud or another platform.
Nexla, Fivetran with dbt, and Airbyte with dbt are common alternatives. Nexla fits teams that need to deliver data beyond the warehouse, such as to operational apps, vector stores, and AI agents.
Airbyte is the most widely used open-source option and offers UI-based connector setup, though transformation and operations need engineering work. dbt Core is open source but covers only transformation.
No-code ETL lets you build and change pipelines without writing any code. Low-code ETL gives you a visual builder but expects SQL or scripting for complex logic.
Nexla handles PDFs, scanned documents with OCR, email, images, and audio or video transcripts, with chunking and direct loads to vector databases. Snowflake Openflow also supports unstructured content for Snowflake-centric teams.
Fivetran is a managed ELT service: it replicates data into a warehouse or lake and leaves transformation to SQL and dbt in the destination. Since June 1, 2026, Fivetran and dbt Labs operate as one company. Pricing is based on monthly active rows.
Batch ELT is necessary but no longer enough. Compare data integration platforms on streaming, documents, governance, and AI readiness.
Most no-code ETL tools stop at extract and load. Compare Fivetran, Nexla, Airbyte, and Meltano on the step that matters: transform.
